Cyclists riding bikes along the water in Warren County NY

Look Out, Bicycle Safety Campaign Launched

Adirondack Cycling Advocates (ACA) has launched a new campaign to increase driver awareness and cyclist safety throughout Warren County, and they’re asking local residents to help make it happen.

The campaign, titled “Look Out!” will feature real cyclists from across the region to remind drivers that people on bikes are not just traffic obstacles — they’re friends, neighbors, co-workers, and kids. The message is simple: Let’s look out for the people who make up our community.

ACA is currently collecting photos and short statements from area cyclists to feature in the campaign. Selected submissions will appear on social media and in print.

We want drivers to see the human behind the handlebars,” said Ethan Gaddy of ACA. “When you know someone’s name or recognize a face, you’re more likely to slow down and drive with care. That’s the goal — to save lives by building empathy.”
Community members of all ages are invited to participate. Cyclists can submit a photo of themselves riding, along with their first name and a brief, general statement about why they ride. Submissions will be accepted via a simple online form at: https://forms.gle/FKLtVbiGHujU19tG9

To ensure safety and privacy, participants are asked not to share specific identifying details like home addresses, schools, or exact commuting routes.

If you ride in Warren County, we want to feature you. It doesn’t matter if you’re
8 or 80, commuting or cruising. You deserve to be seen, respected, and
protected on the road,” said Gaddy.

The “Look Out!” campaign will roll out in June 2025 in time for the busy summer traffic season. For more information, visit ADKCyclingAdvocates.org or follow Adirondack Cycling Advocates on Facebook and Instagram.
