The latest findings from the NY State Comptroller’s office highlight a concerning trend: road fatalities in New York State have been on the rise since 2019. Warren County has emerged with the highest rate in the state, underlining the urgent need for enhanced safety measures.
According to the report, New York’s numbers have consistently exceeded the national average. Pedestrians, in particular, represent a significant portion of all crash fatalities, with statistics showing they account for one-quarter of such incidents in 2022 — a figure over 8 percentage points higher than the national average.
Page 5 of the report further reveals that the north country leads the state in fatalities per 100,000 population, underscoring the regional disparities in road safety.
Let’s work together to make our roads safer for everyone. Stay informed and stay safe!
