Stephen’s recent letter to the Post-Star:
IPCC’s Special Report on Global Warming and The Post Star’s dire but accurate opinion piece, We’re Screwed!, speak to the urgency of unparalleled climate change action. Essentially, we are doomed without unprecedented actions to fight climate change. Here’s the good news: If you are looking for hope, for solutions, for measures you and your local leaders can take about climate change, then please join SUNY Plattsburgh at Queensbury and Green Mountain College’s North Country Climate Reality on October 27 at Silver Bay for a first ever conference designed entirely by and for residents within and along the Blue Line. Adirondack Communities: Preparing for and Responding to Climate Change Conference is a unique conference and one-time opportunity for local communities and businesses to come together to address climate change. Focal areas include (1) climate change information and impacts; (2) proactive solutions for local town governments; and (3) actions for all North Country residents. Our speakers include regional community and business leaders, Glens Falls Hospital, NYSDEC, Warren County Soil and Water, Cornell University, Plattsburgh University, SUNY Adirondack, Warren County Office of Emergency Services, Adirondack Futures, and Lasalle Academy. We will have a vendors’ area and are happy to receive sponsorship to help underwrite costs.
